Imani Davis

Imani Davis is a writer, producer, and a film programmer at the American Cinematheque in Los Angeles. A recent LA transplant from Chicago, she is passionate about building community and believes that film has the power to educate and engage the masses.  Imani earned her Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies at The Ohio State University, and a Master's of Leadership in Creative Enterprises at Northwestern University. She has been the recipient of Reunion Chicago's Cultural Producer's Grant, the Awesome Foundation‘s Microgrant, the Arts & Culture Capital Lab’s Art-trepreneur Grant, and Mezcla Media Collective's & Banner TV's Inaugural Film Microgrant. She was chosen to be a part of a 5-person cohort for the 2022 Chicago Independent Producers Lab, put on in conjunction with Full Spectrum Features and the Chicago Film Office.

Imani is the Founder and Creative Director of Chicago Made Shorts, a digital platform showcasing work in the city of Chicago by local established and emerging filmmakers. She has collaborated with many community-centered organizations such as Open Television, Chicago International Film Festival, Onion City Experimental Film Festival, Facility Theatre, Reunion Chicago, The Martin, Sixty Inches from Center, Doc Films at the University of Chicago, the Block Museum of Art, and more.
