KATE BLACK-SPENCE

KATE BLACK-SPENCE

For over ten years Kate Black-Spence has been a working actor in Chicago known for her work on various commercials (Harley Davidson, Bertolli, Cellcom...), and films/television (Nightlights, #Hashtag, Chicago PD), but primarily for her stage work and passion for new plays. After years of surrounding herself with talented playwrights, helping them develop their work, and watching as they shaped their plays, she began to realize she was developing a strong desire to create her own stories. Since 2019, she has written three full length plays centering women (Ghosts of Whitechapel, Static Space, and Enter Gretta), all of which have received development help from theatre companies (Prop Thtr, Orlando Shakes, and Keegan Theatre), and she adapted Static Space into a short film, co-produced by Glass City Films. That short film has gone on to win dozens of awards from film festivals around the world and has ignited her interest in working as much behind the camera as she continues to work in front of it.

Kate is a proud SAG-AFTRA member.
