Lia Martin

Lia Martin

LIA MARTIN is a comedian, blogger, and tv writer. She was born on a military base in Kansas but raised in a Cleveland suburb by a divorced, granola-mom, who acted more like a sister than a parent. Her dysfunctional upbringing exposed her to a myriad of characters at an early age fueling her imagination and writing. By 12th grade, she had produced her 1st film and soon after college, this optimistic Ohioan loaded up her blue bucket and drove to Los Angeles to become the next Spike Lee.
Lia ended up in tv development and ran Wuzzup Productions, through a deal at HBO Independent Productions, for comedian Martin Lawrence. In Betsy Sharkey’s Adweek article, Wuzzup Docs, she was named one of the top TV execs under 30, having developed several projects for Lawrence. She was also a participant in the Warner Brother’s Writing Program and penned an episode of the hit series, Moesha. Lia went on to create a reality pilot that was directed by Eric Dean Seaton.
After marrying her husband, she pivoted to focus on her family. Years later, upon diving back into writing, Lia was asked to write on Funny Married Stuff, an award-winning web series. She then penned her pilot, Finding Einstein, which is loosely based on her life as an education advocate for her son. This led to her current position on the hit Netflix sitcom, Family Reunion, where she is an Executive Story Editor.
