Steve Nethercott-Cable

London-born, former Bournemouth Film School graduate, Steve is a diverse independent film and music video maker, graphic designer, and closet storm-chaser – aka DJ Sunmonkey.

Steve is a strong team-player – skillfully catalyzing and motivating people with tenacious, resourceful determination – evidenced by successful environmental protection campaigns for Greenpeace and the Sussex Wildlife Trust.

In 2007 Steve was commissioned by Peter Gabriel’s Real World Productions Ltd to produce and direct the Short Film ‘Drumming Spirit’, which documented the 25th Anniversary of the WOMAD Music Festival.

In 2007 Steve joined forces with Janet Nethercott-Cable to set up EYEDiA Design – a creative graphic design Partnership, working on promotional videos, marketing and publicity projects. In 2018 EYEDiA evolved into MA’AT Films – to develop our Film Projects.

Steve has completed a Short Film Screenplay ‘Money Talks’, co-written with Janet. MA’AT Films have already shot and produced a 4K Teaser sequence for their Crowdfunding campaign. This film weighs up the value of love over money, sibling rivalry, guilt, bereavement and the consequences of a life-changing Lottery win.

Steve has also co-written a Feature Film Screenplay ‘Schumann’ with Janet, exploring madness, shamanism and the hedonistic thrill ride culture, using industrial techno music as a core atmospheric element. This Screenplay reached the Quarter-Finals of the International Shore Scripts Screenwriting Competition 2017. Steve and Janet are currently seeking production funding to develop this project.

Most recent Project is "Spirit of the Downs ~ Perseverance brings Success' - "A captivating short documentary about the people-powered campaign to create public access land at Tenants Hill and Mount Carvey, near Cissbury Ring, West Sussex.
